Misalignment can be a result of poor body mechanics and weakened muscles.  A stooped posture is a typical example of this, with the chest muscles concaved and shoulders rounded forward, the hips are shifted forwards out of alignment.

A person with a healthy, strong spine would have a plumb line through the centre of their body, landing just in front of their ankle with their chest remaining open and shoulders back with upper and lower body aligned.
